Once upon a time music had meaning, songs were carefully engineered, and artists took pride in their work. Unfortunately, the good "ole" days are gone. Today, record labels care more about suing their customers and artists are preoccupied with their clothing lines and sneaker deals. It seems no one wants to simply produce---good music.
George Flowers aka "Mr. Flowas", the artist behind such hits as "No Ball to Me", "Guidance" and "Made Life", is bringing creativity back to the art-form. This charismatic Jamaican-born Canadian artist produces a distinctly Canadian blend of Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop music. His songs are content powered stories, lyrically sharp and delivered with a mesmerizing style.
With more than 50 songs completed and in his state-of-the art music studio, Mr. Flowas is not just a star---he is a star maker! Armed with all the tools to break new production ground, Mr. Flowas is taking music back to the days of Bob Marley---when a song's lyrics were just as important as the beat---and entertaining music lovers was just as important as an artist's image.
Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica and relocated to Toronto, Canada in February, 1973 George Flowers is a product of a close-knit Jamaican family that practices traditional Jamaican values---of hardwork, love for self and love for family.
Guided by a strong nurturing mother, Mr. Flowas was given the freedom and independence he needed to explore different cultures. He took advantage of this opportunity by exploring the bright lights of New York City. In New York, Mr. Flowas was introduced to Hip-Hop and R&B, which he fused with his Reggae background to create music with a hybrid Jamaican-Canadian-American styling.
Whether it is performing in front of a handful of people or thousands of music lovers, Mr. Flowas is happy to be in front of the microphone and spits pure fire when given the opportunity.
While Mr. Flowas dedicates time to perfecting his craft, he never loses sight of the struggles he has faced. To this end, Mr. Flowas dedicates time to those less fortunate---especially children. Mr. Flowers has been on the organizing committee for the United Way campaign at The Hospital for Sick Children raising funds for the hospital. In addition, he has organized charity benefit concerts in support of the No Boundaries Team (medical mission team) at The Hospital for Sick Children which has supported three of the team's missions to Kathmandu, Nepal, Kingston, Jamaica and Cusco, Peru.
